When DigitalOcean App Platform is the better fit

  • You need managed MySQL, MongoDB, Kafka or OpenSearch from the same provider.
  • You need autoscaling, more than one region, or a CDN in front of static sites.
  • You already run other infrastructure on DigitalOcean.

When Replov is the better fit

  • You want rupee pricing from a prepaid wallet rather than USD invoices.
  • You need persistent volumes or managed Redis with persistence attached to the app.
  • You want cron jobs with schedules shorter than 15 minutes, or an AI agent operating deployments through MCP.

Moving from DigitalOcean App Platform to Replov

  • Both run in Bangalore, so latency for Indian users should be similar. Replov itself runs on DigitalOcean infrastructure in the BLR1 region.
  • App Platform services, workers and static sites map to Replov web services, background workers and static sites; scheduled jobs map to cron jobs.
  • A DigitalOcean managed database can stay where it is and be connected with its connection string, or move to managed PostgreSQL on Vitibase.
