Replov vs Railway
Railway is a usage-billed platform for apps, databases, volumes and background jobs, with automatic deploys from GitHub and regions in the US, Europe and Singapore.
Replov is a managed PaaS that runs web services, static sites, private services, background workers, cron jobs and Redis in Bangalore, with managed PostgreSQL through Vitibase in Mumbai, priced per service in rupees.

At a glance
| Replov | Railway | |
|---|---|---|
| Best suited to | Developers and small teams in India who want apps, workers, cron jobs, Redis and PostgreSQL in Indian regions, priced in rupees. | Teams that want per-second usage billing, one-click database templates and push-to-deploy, and are fine with a region outside India. |
| How you deploy | Connect GitHub and deploy on every push (Auto Deploy), from the dashboard, or from an AI coding agent through the Replov MCP connector. A Dockerfile in the repository is used as written; Node.js gets a generated Dockerfile; other languages are built with Nixpacks. | GitHub repositories with automatic deploys on push, Docker images from public registries (private registries on Pro), or the railway up CLI. Builds use Railpack or your Dockerfile. |
| Service types | Web service, static site, private service, background worker, cron job (with timezone), Redis. | Services, cron jobs (at least 5 minutes apart, UTC only) and private networking between services. |
| Managed databases | Managed PostgreSQL through Vitibase (with REST APIs, auth, storage and realtime), and managed Redis from the Micro tier. | Railway-maintained templates for PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis and MongoDB, each with an HA variant. |
| Pricing model | Fixed price per service by compute tier, billed hourly or per 30 days from a prepaid wallet. | Usage-based per second: about $20 per vCPU-month and $10 per GB-month of memory. Hobby is $5/month including $5 of usage; Pro is $20 per workspace including $20 of usage. |
| Free tier or trial | Two Nano static sites per account have no compute charge. Each new service on a tier above Nano gets a 3-day trial. | A one-time $5 trial credit (30 days, no card), then a Free plan with $1/month of credit and services capped at 1 vCPU and 0.5 GB. |
| Smallest paid instance | Nano: 0.5 vCPU, 512 MB, ₹199 per 30 days. | No fixed instance size; you pay for the CPU and memory you use. |
| India region | Yes. Applications run in Bangalore (DigitalOcean BLR1); managed PostgreSQL in Mumbai (AWS ap-south-1). Daily backups are stored in Singapore. | No. The nearest region is Singapore. |
| Regions | India: Bangalore for applications, Mumbai for managed PostgreSQL. | US West (California), US East (Virginia), EU West (Amsterdam), Southeast Asia (Singapore). |
| Scaling | Vertical only (change the compute tier). No horizontal replicas or autoscaling. | Services scale vertically up to the plan limit automatically; replicas are added manually. |
| Custom domains and HTTPS | Custom domains on web services and static sites, verified by CNAME and TXT; automatic Let’s Encrypt certificates. | Custom and wildcard domains with automatic Let’s Encrypt certificates. |
| Logs and metrics | Build and runtime logs with live streaming; CPU, memory and network metrics. No log export. | Log retention of 3 days (Free), 7 days (Hobby), 30 days (Pro). |
| Persistent storage | Volumes of 1–100 GB at ₹15 per GB-month; daily encrypted backups kept 7 days on Micro and above. | One volume per service, about $0.15 per GB-month; volumes cannot be used with replicas. |
| Billing currency | INR. | USD. |
When Railway is the better fit
- You want per-second usage billing rather than a fixed price per service.
- You need managed MySQL or MongoDB from the same provider as your app.
- Your users are mostly outside India, or Singapore latency is acceptable.
When Replov is the better fit
- You want your application to run in India (Bangalore) and pay in rupees.
- You prefer a fixed price per service to usage-based billing.
- You want managed PostgreSQL (Vitibase, Mumbai) and Redis in India, billed on the same wallet.
- You want an AI coding agent to deploy and operate the app through MCP, with you approving prices.
Moving from Railway to Replov
- Railway services map to Replov web services, workers or private services; Railway cron services map to Replov cron jobs (and can use an IANA timezone).
- Move a Railway Postgres database to managed PostgreSQL on Vitibase with pg_dump and pg_restore; Replov then injects DATABASE_URL into the apps that use it.
- Railway Redis maps to Replov Redis; REDIS_URL is injected into linked services on their next deploy.
- Replov deploys stop the old container before starting the new one; plan for a brief interruption on each deploy.
